Japanese

The learning of a language in addition to English facilitates linguistic, cognitive and social development in children through the study of language and culture. Japan is an important neighbour in Asia Pacific with strong cultural and economic links with Australia, thus, making the study of Japanese relevant and desirable.

The learning of Japanese language complements and furthers the development of literacy in the first language, and enables students to gain access to the cultural, historical, artistic and literary contributions of Japan.

The program enriches children’s educational experiences, and serves also to develop greater personal confidence and strengthen students' opportunities in the future.  It gives students new insights into their own culture and fosters the development of global citizens with a mutual understanding and respect among cultural groups, particularly significant in a multicultural Australia.
