When is my child eligible to start school
Reception Enrolment
Reception is a common Australian term used to describe a child's first year of school. Catholic schools offer Reception intakes in Term 1 and Term 3.
Reception Intake, Term 1: children who turn five years old on or before April 30. These children will spend 4 terms in Reception.
Reception Intake, Term 3: children who turn five years old before October 31. These children will spend 6 terms in Reception.
Children whose birthday falls between 1 November and 31 December will commence school the following year.
