Community

St Joseph's School is actively involved in our wider community

Our school families are part of the parish and wider community in Clare. Families and friends are actively involved in a range of local community events, such as:

Sport: Children are involved in a range of sporting clubs across the local region.
Mary MacKillop service day: Following in Mary MacKillop's footsteps students carry out various acts of service in our school and local community.
Clean Up Australia Day: Whole school takes part in cleaning up the local community.
World Tree Planting Day: Year 5 students plant trees in the local community.
Local Nursing Homes: Children visit the local nursing home several times each year to get to know and spend time with the residents, and to sing to them.

Parents

It takes a village to raise a child!

At St Joseph’s Clare we value parents as the first educators of their children and we strongly promote the development of teacher/parent relationships to support your child’s learning. Parents are also actively encouraged to be involved in as many aspects of school life as possible. We believe the school is a place for students, staff and parents. St Joseph's Clare is well known as a school which values community and fosters all elements working together. Hearing children read, attending class and school functions, assisting class teachers with children’s learning, coaching sports teams, getting involved in the Parents and Friends Association, canteen and working bees, are just a few examples of the many ways parents share their expertise and become involved in the life of our school.

We aim to build an environment in which parents feel welcome, and which fosters the growth of a mutually beneficial partnership between parents, teachers and students. We believe that only then can a child receive the maximum benefit from his or her education.

The School Board and the Parents and Friends are formally constituted groups with parent membership. You are welcomed and encouraged to be a part of the School Board, Parents & Friends Association or one of its sub-committees.

These parent groups play a vital and important role in building a strong sense of community at St Joseph's Clare.
